4-year deal keeps All-Star guard in Boston

Contract includes $134.4 million in guaranteed money

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jrue Holiday has agreed to a four-year, $134.4 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, his agent said Tuesday.

The deal keeps the All-Star guard in Boston through the 2026-27 season.

Holiday, 31, was acquired by the Celtics in a blockbuster offseason trade with the Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 17.7 points, 7.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game last season, helping the Celtics reach the NBA Finals.

"Jrue is a cornerstone of our franchise and we are thrilled to have him in Boston for the long term," Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said in a statement. "He is a dynamic playmaker and an elite defender who makes everyone around him better."

Holiday is a five-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Defensive Team selection. He has also won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA.

The Celtics have high hopes for Holiday, who they believe can help them compete for an NBA championship.

"I'm excited to be a part of this team and this organization," Holiday said. "We have a great group of guys and I'm confident that we can achieve something special together."
