Anthony Edwards' College Overseas Pre-NBA Career

From Georgia to the G League

After being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards is set to embark on his NBA journey. However, before he was a highly touted draft prospect, Edwards played college basketball for the University of Georgia and spent time overseas in the NBA G League.

College Career

In his one season at Georgia, Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He led the Bulldogs to a 16-16 record and was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team. However, after a disappointing season, Edwards decided to declare for the NBA Draft.

G League Career

Following the NBA Draft, Edwards signed a two-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks, who then assigned him to their G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. In the G League, Edwards averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He helped the Skyhawks reach the G League playoffs, where they lost in the semifinals.

NBA Outlook

Edwards is expected to be a major contributor for the Timberwolves in his rookie season. He is a highly skilled scorer with a versatile offensive game. Edwards can create his own shot, shoot from deep, and finish at the rim. He is also a good rebounder and defender.

The Timberwolves are hoping that Edwards can be the franchise cornerstone they have been looking for. He has all the tools to be a successful NBA player, and he is eager to prove himself at the highest level.
