Union's Overtime Comeback Bid Falls Short Against Stillwater

A Tale of Two Halves

The Union men's basketball team saw their second-half comeback bid fall short in overtime against Stillwater on Saturday, dropping their record to 5-6 on the season. The Pioneers trailed by 11 points at halftime but rallied to tie the game late in regulation before ultimately falling in the extra period, 83-78.

First Half Dominance by Stillwater

Stillwater came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, shooting 50% from the field and holding Union to just 32%. The Pioneers struggled to keep up with the Pioneers' hot shooting and trailed by 11 points at the break, 40-29.

Union's Second-Half Surge

The Pioneers came out with a renewed sense of purpose in the second half, outscoring Stillwater 49-38 and tying the game with just over a minute remaining in regulation. Union had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but a potential game-winning shot rimmed out, sending the game to overtime.

Overtime Heartbreak

In overtime, Stillwater regained control of the game, outscoring Union 11-4 to secure the victory. The Pioneers were led by senior guard A.J. Myers, who finished with 22 points and 7 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Pioneers' strong shooting night.
